Movie Description
(Source: Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)
(Edited by R. Shinn)

The movie stars Keith Gordon as Arnie Cunningham, a typical high school nerd with only a few friends. His life changes when he discovers Christine, a red 1958 Plymouth Fury in serious need of repair. Arnie begins to restore Christine to her original beauty, but as he spends more and more of his time repairing her, those in his life notice that he is changing as well. Formerly shy, Arnie develops a cocky arrogance. Arnie's girlfriend Leigh Cabot, played by Alexandra Paul, and his best friend Dennis Guilder, played by John Stockwell, discover that the car has a deadly past. The previous owner, Roland LeBay, became consumed with Christine and paid for it with his life. Leigh and Dennis try to save Arnie from a similar fate. They realize that the only way to save Arnie is by destroying Christine. Christine, however, isn't ready to give up Arnie without a fight.

During the film a group of bullies from school form together and tear the car apart. Leaving Arnie in shock that the work he put into her was destroyed. When Arnie goes to sleep, Christine comes to life and stalks the group of boys who destroyed her, which ended up with the most of the boys bodies being crushed by Christine, and a collapsing  inferno that once was a gas station before Christine's wrath. This leads the flaming Christine to have a long chase with the last of the boys, eventually running him over and leaving his burning body lying in the road in her wake.

In the book, it is unclear whether Christine is evil or Roland LeBay is possessing her. In the movie, all mystery is taken away when Christine murders one man and injures another while on the assembly line. The movie also removes the possession plotline. Christine is not possessed but simply an evil car.

Arnie pays the ultimate price after being killed in a freak accident when Christine crashes into Darnell's office in an attempt to kill Leigh. After Dennis and Leigh destroy Christine, the car is compacted into a cube and tossed into a junkyard. As the camera zooms in on the crushed cube that was formerly Christine, a small piece of the front grill moves slightly, leading the viewer to wonder if Christine was, or can ever be truly destroyed.

By my count, 10 people are killed by Christine from the time she was built, until her crushing "death", at the hands of Dennis and Leigh in a bulldozer.

1.   Factory worker inside car during assembly
2.   Roland LeBay's daughter
3.   Roland LeBay's wife
4.   Roland LeBay
5.   Will Darnell
6.   Moochie Welch
7.   Don Vandenberg
8.   Richard Trelawney
9.   Buddy Repperton
10. Arnie Cunningham

And many others were injured by "Christine" including the first factory worker (Arm caught in hood), Leigh (choking at Drive Inn), and Dennis (Football accident).

The car was truly possessed.

The Star of the Movie...
1958 Plymouth Fury (or Belvedere)
California license plate number:

There has been much controversy over the true model of the 1958 Plymouth featured in "Christine". Most all of the media print you hear or read call Christine a 1958 Plymouth Fury. "Die Hard" Chrysler fans will note that the only color available on a 1958 Fury was White... with Gold trim, Gold Grill, and Gold "V" emblem in the center of the grill. Since "Christine" was Red, with Silver Trim, Silver Grill, and a Gold V, most Chrysler purists will tell you that "Christine" has to be a 1958 Belvedere. Since the cars for this movie were made from pieces to begin with, I won't add any comment on what model "I" think it is.

When the movie was being put together, the people connected with the film bought (24) twenty-four, 1958 Plymouths. Using parts and pieces from the 24 cars, they ended up with 17 "functioning" cars for the film. Certain cars were built with heavy reinforcements to do stunt work (such as the scene where Christine goes after "Moochie" into a narrow loading dock area... crushing both sides, and the nose of the car. Others were built to look perfect from any angle for production shots and use in the movie when Christine had to look absolutely perfect. According to the DVD special features, only 2 survived the ordeal.

You WILL notice in the shot below, that as "Christine" ran down the line... she was in line with White 1958 Plymouth Furys.

The Mileage keeps going DOWN as he drives!

93,000+ Miles when he buys "Christine"

After working on it a little, the mileage has dropped to 88,000 and change

during a high speed drive, it is down to 38,000 + and he's going about 80 MPH

As the speed increased (now about 100 MPH) you can see it is even less miles... and can see it taking the miles off.
